In Memory of Turner Keith Price:

Turner was not only an athlete, he was a 4.0 student. He was a brother,  a son, a nephew to me and a cousin to my children. He was just like my kid, his mother will miss him as will his dad.  His brother will miss him teasing them and his older brother will miss teasing him.   His friends hearts are broken, they have dedicated the football season to friend Turner....

Turner loved life. He loved football and the 49ners and the Spurs basketball.

Turner kiss grandma in Heaven we miss you honey. Love always your Aunt...

On Friday night, the Battle Mountain Longhorns took the field for the first time since losing their teammate.Turner Price was a relatively small guy who was known for laying out players nearly twice his size as a defensive back. Some of his teammates had been playing with the 5-8 150-pound senior for the past 10 years. On Saturday, several of them honored him with messages on their jerseys and one player even had a tattoo with Turner's name on it. Dayton High held a moment of silence in Price's honor before the game, while teammates talked about what it will be like to play without their good friend."He's our inspiration," says Randy Verbeck, Price's teammate. "As a team we're going to go up. We're going to keep doing better and better as a team cause Turner's our best friend and he's a hard worker. He wanted to go all out every play, we're going to do that."Price died in early August when a tire on his Ford Explorer gave out causing it to roll over about four miles east of Battle Mountain. Three other teens were in the car with him, but no one else was seriously injured.

Staff writer NORTH ANDOVER — Drivers sped around the parking lot at 1600 Osgood St. in a race car yesterday. That alone was a rare sight. But there was more to it. The people who took turns trying the car were in wheelchairs and could not use their feet to step on the gas or brake pedals, so the car was designed for them to operate with their hands. "For me, this is like a dream to be able to do this," said Peabody resident Tom Muxie, 46, who was in a motorcycle accident in 1986. For Plymouth, N.H., resident Brian Hanaford, 46, the day represented the payoff of six years of work. Hanaford is president of a company called Accessible Racing, and he raised money, networked and labored to give people with disabilities the chance to feel the stock car's power. "This is creating an opportunity where there wasn't any," he said. Hanaford was paralyzed temporarily after a car accident. He's no longer paralyzed, but he's now fighting liver cancer.

You think this is UP Hill .... Just wait until Round One hits for Competitive bidding...

BAD MEDICARE POLICY.. WILL HARM YOUR HEALTH...

DO YOU HAVE A WHEELCHAIR?

DO YOU USE OXYGEN??

I do notImportant Information Agree with this POLICY!!!!! CALL YOUR CONGRESSIONAL MEMBER. TELL THEM THAT CMS AND COMPETITIVE BIDDING IS NOT AN OPTION FOR YOU.....How I see it....It is a bad policy....

Althoughit was a law passed, and they have every right to follow the law, butthe facts are that sometimes CMS will not implement laws or follow upon them, many took for granted this Dead issue, one that Made no sensewould come to light.

What is going on in the World Disabilites
I am so glad these senators are not worried about the cost to seniors or Peoplewho are disabled, in fact this program is doomed so says economists and it willnot save a dime, in fact in the future it will cost people (seniors and peoplewho are disabled) their health. I guess waiting for oxygen is a good thing, although I can’t figure that one out. Or maybe savings on costs are when youcannot get service for your wheelchair battery and you get a sore and end up inthe hospital. Saving although, from where I am sitting I have a good idea ofwhat will happen. I think that people will be put in the hospital due to thefact that they will not get services, when that happens the cost of Medicaregoes up when they are put in the hospital. I am wondering why no one consideredthose points in the idea of competitive bidding for DME. But I am just onechick in a chair seeing it from the inside out. I say that someone jumps on mylap and looks at the view.. Madonna

The good bill HR 6331(MIPPA), which passed in Congress by a huge beyond veto action, was pitted yesterday in the US Senate. I was in DC in the morning to be at myfavorite Senators office. We need your help to change the minds of therepublican senators and to please tell the Democratic Senators who wrote thisletter to Senator Reid, to understand that Competitive Bidding is Bad forPeople who are disabled. It takes away your right to choose who you want tohelp you with DME, your wheelchair, your Oxygen. Get on the phone. We haveuntil they get back on July 7th.

It is past July 1 and I am not sure what the out come of HR 6331 will be due tothe fact Competitive bidding is already a reality, but call those Senator's tomake sure they hear you.

This Bill passed again with a veto override. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO Take that !!!! George!!!!!

THANK YOU ALL THE CONGRESS MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE AND SENATE WHO VOTED FOR HR 6331.. AND SENATOR REID & SENATOR BACUS.... GREAT LEADERSHIP...

COMPETITIVE BIDDING IS NOT GOOD FOR WHEELCHAIR PURCHASES.....

We are Waving for some Help.. JUMP on Call Your Legislative Representative above.

Rolling up hill has taken on an entire different meaning.

COMPETITIVE BIDDING IS WRONG FOR PEOPLE WHO NEED WHEELCHAIRS

For people who rely on Service of Quality DME (durable medical equipment), they are in for an up hill battle. Many of us Wheelchair user's have used the same DME provider for years. Why? Well, duh, for the first reason, we trust them. We know they are going to show up. Now CME or better known as Medicare. You know the insurance provider that makes sure you have coverage for your supplies. Well, they have decided to implement a plan (if you can call it that), this plan will take away your current Provider. Or, it may put them out of business all together. Why, because they can.   Competitive bidding is not what it seems to be. This is a plan where many providers in Round One of this scheme did not get to bid properly, or were shoved out because the process was too difficult. Now, go figure, a government program that is not difficult. So the people who you trusted could be out of helping you with your supplies or repairs from her on out.  If you are reading this, then get on the phone and tell you Congressional Leader that You want them to halt competitive bidding in your areas.  Start to take control and keep some of the rights you still have.

Competitive bidding will cause you to lose your wheelchair provider, who services your chair if they did not win a bid in your area, also if they did win a bid they may not have won the bid, that services your needs, or they won the bid and now it will take longer for you to get services or repairs.  We need to stick together and get this issue out. If you are in these states.
